Wednesday night I was rear ended :(. After pulling over and exchanging insurance information I was still a little shaky but my main concern was getting home to check on Baby. Once there, I frantically fumbled with the fetal doppler (say that 5 times fast!) and of course, had trouble locating a heartbeat. This brought on a
tsunami wave of tears. Luckily, Asaf arrived just then and was somehow able to find Baby’s heartbeat right away (they’re already plotting against me). Somewhat relieved but not quite satisfied, we called my OB. She asked several questions about the accident and in the end advised us to go to the hospital for fetal monitoring and an ultrasound.
Two and a half hours (two tacos
and a side order of nachos) later we were discharged. I was exhausted and sore but incredibly grateful. The fetal monitoring didn’t pick up any contractions and although the Ultrasound Tech isn’t allowed to say much, she pretty much gave me the thumbs up on her way out.
We followed up with my Doctor on Friday morning and she confirmed that Baby appears to be swimming around safe and sound. Thank goodness! And thanks to everyone for the calls, texts, emails and comments. They are very much appreciated. As for me, I start treatment at the chiropractor this week and I should have a rental soon.
Week 24 wasn’t all bad though. Our boy is now about the size of a cantaloupe! This week his brain’s cortex is developing into layers and his skin is becoming less opaque.
24 week update:
Total weight gain so far: Same as last week. 13 pounds. Maybe 13 is Baby’s lucky number?!
Cravings: This week I’m crazy about breakfast. I wake up soooo hungry and all I can think about is waffles, cereal (current loves: frosted mini wheats and honey nut cheerios) or eggs. Today I even thought it might be a good idea to add half a grapefruit into the mix…and I usually hate grapefruit!
What I’m excited about: I’ve got a pregnancy massage appointment this week. Yay! Also, my diaper bag arrived. I love it!
What I’m nervous about: Glucose tolerance test coming up soon. Hopefully everything checks out ok.
New this week: My uterus is now the size of a soccer ball and my belly button is looking quite shallow this week! I’m hoping it doesn’t pop out. Truth be told, that kind of gives me the heebie jeebies.
Note to Baby: So many people love you and are happy to know that you’re OK! Keep up the kicks. I can’t get enough of them! Only 15 weeks to go 🙂
