Celebrations at 26 weeks

Oh week 26, how quickly you went by!

Sunday Asaf celebrated his very first (kinda-sorta) Father’s Day! Since Asaf generally asks for very little, here’s how we celebrated his impending fatherhood: pancakes (at my insistence), pool, World Cup, NBA playoffs, steak dinner. Although I feel some mild guilt about having not purchased much for Baby yet, I have to say that I do feel pretty dang good about giving him this guy as a Dad.

In other news, we successfully completed our childbirth classes! They even gave us this nifty little certificate. Despite my initial shock, we enjoyed the classes so much that we decided to signed up for two additional classes next month — Infant CPR and Lactation 101. Of course I’ll be sure to let you know how they go 😉

Our little lettuce is about 2 pounds and his eyes are starting to open this week. His hearing is now fully developed. Also, he is beginning to develop patterns of sleeping and waking. I think we may have a tiny morning person on our hands! I’ve noticed increased belly movement starting at around 6:00am.

::yawn:: and now ::yawn:: my 26 week update:

Total weight gain so far: I gained half a pound this week which brings us up to 14.5. Splurged a little (aforementioned pancakes, TWO Haagen Dazs ice cream bars… etc.) but also made it to the gym THREE times this week so maybe it all evened everything out?

Cravings: No major cravings to report this week but I did eat some really delicious pho on Friday. I actually didn’t even realize I wanted pho until Asaf suggested we share a bowl. Before I knew it, I was fighting him for the last spoonful!

What I miss: This is non-baby related but as some of you may know, my car was declared a total loss this week and I decided sign it over to the insurance company for a payout. On the lookout for a Mom-mobile but thankful for my little Honda and the service it provided for 11 long years. 😦

What I’m excited about: I passed my glucose test! Hallelujah! I don’t know how I would have survived the summer without popsicles (current love: Outshine Lime flavor. Tastes similar to a margarita!).

What I’m nervous about: My good friend Elma delivered a beautiful baby girl via c-section after 30 hours of labor. 30 hours! Jeepers creepers!

New this week: The Tiffany’s ring I usually wear on my right middle finger has been moved to my forefinger. It was getting a little too tight and I didn’t want to think about having to possibly cut it off at some point! My wedding rings are still fine.

Note to Baby: We are THIS close to 3rd trimester! You’re doing great but Mama would be eternally grateful if you moved your little noggin southward sometime soon. We get to see you again in a few weeks for our 3rd trimester check up! Can’t wait!
